The heart of Mom, Do You Miss Me Too?
Why I’m making Pebblehug.
I’m a dad to a three-year-old. At the heart of Pebblehug is a simple wish: for children to find themselves and the people they love inside a story. I want family members to belong in the adventure—as people who listen, help and join in.
I care about the small things: a shared glance, a helping hand, an idea that makes everyone smile. These are the kinds of moments I want these books to make room for. We’re beginning with stories for a child and Mom or Dad. Your photos inspire the characters; your time together gives the story its own meaning.
Room to miss each other. Room to enjoy the day.
We wanted to begin with a child’s question, not a lesson in being brave: “Do you miss me too?” Mom answers with affection and a promise to come back. Then each has a day of their own. A familiar game quietly connects them, even when they are in different places.
Our hope is to make room for both feelings: you can miss each other and still have a good day. Perhaps the pictures give you something to point at, laugh about, or talk over together. The child doesn’t have to stop missing Mom—or be responsible for making her feel better.
Soft lines. Space to wonder.
AI-assisted digital illustrations combine expressive linework, watercolor-like washes and warm paper textures. Open space keeps small discoveries and shared gestures in focus, with recognizable characters woven into the scenes.
The child’s words tell one side of the day; wordless scenes let us see Mom’s side. Small visual echoes invite you to notice the connection together. The pictures tell what the child cannot yet see.
Before you make it yours.
